The Florida colors of sun, sand and surf will be the fabulous
inspirations for watercolor artists during Kathleen’s 2010 "Travel
and Paint" workshop! She has planned a 5-day plein air workshop in
Islamorada in the Florida Keys. Artists will make their own travel,
hotel and ground transportation arrangements and may bring family or
friends, planning either an extended stay or a short painting trip!
Airports are available close by in Marathon (in the Keys) and Miami.
This workshop will be five days of "laid-back painting fun - old
Florida Keys style"! Working outside at various locations chosen by
Kathleen, you’ll be painting landscapes and seascapes filled with
orchids, herons, boats and "conch" cottages. Kathleen’s many
demonstrations will show you how to capture the colors of the Keys
using "double-loaded brushes and lots of water"! You’ll fill your
watercolor journal with "color sketches" for follow-up studio work
at home. Fishing, sailing, kayaking, and snorkeling trips abound for
your personal enjoyment and photo opportunities.

Workshop Description: This new
class is all about the painting "process" of painting fog, snow,
bright sunlight, and rain as it applies to any landscape or seascape
subject. Students will also learn how to stretch paper and use
masking fluid to save the white of the paper.
"Beginning Watercolor: Painting Basics Simplified"

Workshop Description: Students will work on landscape and seascape
drawings and/or paintings from scenes in the gardens, the boat sheds
and at the waterfront. This workshop will be for all skill levels
and participants may work in any drawing or painting medium with
which they are familiar. Lessons will emphasize responding
emotionally to a scene and then composing a painting. Demos will be
in watercolor and beginners will work on drawing skills and
watercolor techniques.
