The Florida colors of sun, sand and surf will be the fabulous
inspirations for watercolor artists during my 2008 "Travel and
Paint" workshops! I am planning a low key, high key experience with
one week in Islamorada in the Florida Keys and a second week on the
Southwest Florida Coast at Lover’s Key near Fort Myers Beach!
Choose both workshops and you will have double the painting fun!
Artists may sign up for one or both workshops as each session
will be back-to-back weeks in January/February, 2008. Artists will
make their own travel, hotel and ground transportation arrangements
(see attached recommendations) either driving or flying so you may
suit yourself, bring family or friends and plan either an extended
stay or a short painting trip! Airports are available in both
Marathon (in the keys) and Ft. Myers.
The first workshop will be five days of "Low Key (as in laid-back
old Florida) style" in Islamorada. Working from headquarters at the
Coral Bay Resort on Florida Bay, we shall work outside at various
locations painting landscapes and seascapes filled with the flowers
and wildlife of the area. Side trips will include a visit to
Worldwide Sportsman and their beautiful marina, the Redbone Gallery
and Key West! Charter boats, kayaking, fishing and snorkel trips
abound for your non-painting times. Cook in your full-kitchen
efficiency or eat out in the many award-winning restaurants.
The second workshop will be five days of "High Key (as in
fabulous high-rise condo) style" at Lover’s Key Resort near a
wildlife refuge and gorgeous sand beach on the Gulf of Mexico. Side
trips here will include a visit to the J. N. "Ding" Darling wildlife
refuge at Sanibel Island, a shopping/gallery experience in Naples
and a visit to the Naples Museum of Art!
And back home in Virginia......
