of ideas for painting any subject creatively using watercolor,
collage and other media!

Workshop Description:
Anticipate spring and summer blossoms and be ready to paint them when
they are blooming in your garden by learning the techniques in
January! Students will use greenhouse flowers and photos to capture
realistic close-ups, arrangements and garden scenes while painting
in the studio environment. Although open to any medium,
demonstrations and instruction will be in watercolor and a
materials list for watercolor will be given at registration. If you
are working in another medium, please bring your favorite supplies.

Learn
to capture the "spirit" of birds, animals and flowers in a natural
habitat! Techniques will include painting creatively in both
realistic and impressionist styles using pure pigment watercolor,
transparent glazing techniques and wet-in-wet mixing of paint on the
paper. Students will work individually
using their own reference photos of birds, wildlife and flowers with
maximum one-on-one instruction.

emphasis as we paint the luminous greens of budding trees, the soft
yellows of blooming bulbs and the cobalt and turquoise skies of
early spring using “pure pigment” transparent watercolor paints!

Workshop Description:
Bring
your most colorful summer sunrises and sunsets as well as your beach
photos to this challenging and fun watercolor workshop open to all
levels. Lessons and demos will include using exaggerated color to
capture the beauty of sky and water in landscapes and seascapes.
Demos will include Kathleen’s techniques for working on Aquabord for
watercolor (formerly Clayboard Textured by Ampersand) and
students who wish to try painting on this new surface may bring an 8
x 10 or 11 x 14 panel to class. (Aquabord is available from Cheap
Joe’s Art Stuff or Jerry’s Artarama catalogs). Bring your regular
watercolor supplies.
